GENERAL QUESTIONS

Can you replace just the glass and keep the window frame?
Yes — in most cases.
If the frame is structurally sound, we remove the failed sealed unit and install a new double or triple glazed unit.
You do not usually need a full window replacement.
Not necessarily.
Misted double glazing usually means the sealed unit has failed — not the frame.
Replacing the sealed unit is typically the most cost-effective solution.
A sealed unit (also called a double glazed unit or insulated glass unit) consists of two or three panes of glass separated by a spacer bar and sealed around the edges. When the seal fails, moisture enters and causes condensation between the panes.
Most single unit replacements can be completed quickly.
Larger or multiple unit jobs may take longer, but installation is usually straightforward and minimally disruptive.
Yes.
Replacing only the sealed unit is significantly more affordable than replacing the entire window frame and glazing system.

TECHNICAL QUESTIONS

Can you upgrade from double glazing to triple glazing?

In many cases, yes.
It depends on:
• Frame depth
• Structural suitability
• Glazing bead allowance
We assess whether your existing frames can accommodate triple glazed units.

Yes.
Modern Low-E glass, argon gas filled units and warm edge spacer technology can improve
insulation significantly without replacing the frames.

Acoustic glass is designed to reduce noise transmission.
It typically uses laminated glass and specialised unit configurations to reduce external sound
entering your home

Laminated glass contains a strong interlayer that holds the glass together if broken.
It improves security and safety compared to standard glazing.

No.
Double glazed units cannot be cut once manufactured.
The correct solution is to replace the sealed unit with a new one manufactured with a pre-cut
hole for the cat flap.

CONSERVATORY QUESTIONS

Can you replace conservatory roof glass?

Yes.
We replace failed, misted or underperforming conservatory roof sealed units.
Solar control and energy efficient upgrades are available

Solar control glass can significantly reduce heat build-up and glare compared to standard glazing.

HERITAGE & TIMBER QUESTIONS

Can you install double glazing into timber sash windows?

In many cases, yes.
Slimline double glazed units can be installed into existing timber frames if they are
structurally sound.

Slimline units are designed to maintain traditional sightlines and are often used in period
properties.
You may need to consult your local authority if your property is listed or in a conservation
area
